It will do Multi-room Music Playback as well because Amazon considers that one stream that's going to multiple devices simultaneously. This limits you to one stream at a time, but can be used on any device-all your Echos, FireTVs, laptops, phones, tablets, etc. Next level is the Individual Plan ($9.99/mo if you don't have Prime. It ONLY works on the Echo or FireTV device you bought it on. The cheapest one is the Single Device Plan ($3.99/mo) but that is strictly tied to one specific Echo or FireTV device. It has a about 2M songs.Īmazon Music Unlimited has tens of millions of songs and 3 subscription tiers with different capabilities. Prime Music is included with a Prime Membership and can be used on any device (Echo, FireTV, smartphones, computers, tablets, etc.) but is limited to one stream at a time. Amazon doesn't visually distinguish between these in the Alexa app very well, so you will see the Amazon Music avatar for both Unlimited and Prime Music services.įeatures of Prime Music and the various Unlimited tiers: There's Prime Music, which is free to every Prime Member and has about 2M songs, and there's Amazon Music Unlimited, which has tens of millions of songs and has varying subscription fees depending on how many users and devices you want to enable. There is no such thing as "Amazon Prime Music Unlimited". Is this statement true and is this our problem? This thing is infuriating. My wife does share her Prime account with me as a family member. "Note that this benefit isn’t available to those who share a Prime membership with family members." Is there a way to use the Echo without Unlimited? Nothing on Amazon's site seems to indicate Unlimited is required. When I ask the Echo to play that song, I am told this is only available with the Unlimited subscription. On her PC, I can play (for example) "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran for free. She does have Amazon Music set as her primary music provider in the Echo setup. She does not have the Amazon Prime Music Unlimited subscription, but she does use the 'free' Amazon Prime Music. I'm having issues getting it to play songs from Amazon and my Google skills are failing me, if someone can help. My wife purchased an Echo Dot for Christmas and she has this registered under her Amazon Prime Account.
